Wild Cat

"Simply great!"

submission: Wild Cat
date: 14 hours ago

Congratulations on your first long movie! I think the voice acting and artwork are VERY smooth! It must have been a lot of work, but the results are magnificent!

Your English translation (including the subtitles) are not very good, though: I think it is a too litteral translation from Russian, but I cannot be sure since I do not understand Russian. However, everyone should be able to understand what you mean and most of the time, the poor English is just very funny, actually ADDING to the joy of watching!

Therefore I give you 10 out of 10. I just hope you are kinder to cats in real life than that Sasha dude in your movie ;-)

It would be great to see more long movies from you in future!

"A few hints"

I think you have a nice enough concept, but it could use a little polishing. My main concern is that the collision detection contours are off, so I died while still at some distance of a big pacman. This issue is even apparent in the menu for the difficulty settings.

Also, you might want to use differently coloured pacmans rather than huge pacmans that fill up your entire screen ;-) But that may be a matter of taste.

The Lost Warrior

"Some points that could be improved IMHO"

submission: The Lost Warrior
date: July 17, 2008

Although the graphics are neat, there is room for improvement, I think.

It would be nice if the enemy did not have a perfect aim: each shot is a direct hit. It's good to see some more realism than all those hero games in which the enemy aims like an infant rather than a trained soldier, but this is a bit over the top, I think. Maybe difficulty levels would be a good idea for this?

Indeed, I missed auto fire A LOT. Spoilt bugger, aren't I?

By the way, I would not call a landing craft or hover craft a "heli". But perhaps I did not make it far enough into the game to see an actual heli ;-)

Marble Lines XD!

"Not very good?!"

submission: Marble Lines XD!
date: June 24, 2008

I totally disagree: the only thing I can think of that could make this game 'not very good' would be if it was too easy for many people on NG. I am no star at most NG games, but I could perfectly manage this game. Apart from that, I liked the graphics, the way you put a common idea into a new form and the restriction of the colour-swapping.

Thank goodness you did not make it a continuous string of balls without the possibility to MISS and thereby not add a ball. However, the possibility of missing actually means there would be little need to allow colour swapping or to limit the colours to the ones in the string. MAYBE it would be cool to have missing balls enter the 'gutter' through which the string moves on the location it 'hit' this gutter? That way, two seperate strings would emerge, making the player suffer (just a little) for his misses.

But hey, excellent job anyway, so feel free to completely ignore the above ;-)

Magnet Racer

"I WAS going to rate it better"

submission: Magnet Racer
date: June 12, 2008

This game was easy to learn and I actually enjoyed it the first time. However, the second time I played, the entire top half of the screen existed of water, which resulted in poor view due to the superfluous car drawing in the bottom right corner. Than, the randomization of the game became too harsh on me: the entire screen turned into water and a barrier at the bottom: there was nowhere to go but off-screen, which was obviously not allowed.

The randomization may need a bit of extra work to prevent these extreme cases from happening, and I for one could do without the extra displays at the bottom of the screen.

Apart from that: easy controls, nice game - definitely something I would come back to once in a while :-)

war of gasoline

"You're missing the REAL problem"

submission: war of gasoline
date: June 12, 2008

The REAL problem aren't the gas prices. Like L2xX pointed out, there are countries in which fuel prices are much higher than in the US; I live in one. No disrespect to all Americans out there, but the US (and Australia and probably some other countries as well) have a car industry that markets and manages to actually SELL vehicles with 5 liter engines and over. Such huge horse power engines just waste fuel and would never be remotely commercially viable in most European countries.

Now, most oil companies COULD innovate and boost the use of other fuels, but oil has become so scarce, that it is more lucrative than ever to exploit.

Combine these two issues and you'll realize the car industries creating fuel inefficient vehicles are helping the major oil companies. By demanding efficient cars in countries where these are not the norm, you can make a bigger difference, although your suggestion is wide-spread and may have SOME effect too.

I wouldn't worry too much about a World War (at least due to oil shortage): in Europe, scientists have developed micro-organisms that produce oil and some people plan to make use facilities with billions of these micro-organisms, resulting in a sustainable source of oil. No doubt, other initiatives will follow worldwide.

Let's be honest: the consumption of oil is thought of too lightly nowadays. The price we pay at the gas station is nothing compared to the environmental damage we may be causing.

24Hr Analogue Clock

"Interesting thought"

date: June 4, 2008

Great effort! It is an interesting thought to make a clock which does not use all numbers twice in one day, however there are a few remarks about the CONCEPT I would like to make - your flash is definitely cool.

A real analogue clock like yours would have the disadvantage of the large dial traveling at twice the rate of a regular large dial. Thus, it would take quite a bit of getting used to reading the minutes properly: 14:31 (2:31 pm) would be when the large dial is TWO dashes/dots (or whatever other indicator is used) past the lower mid-position instead of one. Diving by two is required, meaning a quick glance would no longer be sufficient. Reading the time will therefore become LESS efficient this way.

On the other hand, since the large dial is moving faster, i.e. more continuously, it could well be that a clock like your would consume less energy and be more energy efficient.

Thoughts like these kept me busy for WAY over two minutes already, so: mission accomplished to you! ;-)

Oh, let me just add that I like the design of your analogue/digital clock. Perhaps you can sell the idea to a clock company?

Time Travel.....?

"Excellent point!"

submission: Time Travel.....?
date: April 18, 2008

The flash movie itself is decent enough, but your point is definitely quite valid. Without spamming, I would like to let you know that you should be able to find a very well worked out theory online, illustrated by (theatrical) movies involving time travel. Try Googling for "infinity loop" and "time travel".

In essence, it is not clear whether the world would implode, but we would all be stuck in a never-ending loop of two scenario's. We might even be in one right now, re-living our lives over and over because someone in the future was not careful enough when hopping back to their (and our) past. In my opinion, WWII would be a massive risk for drawing people back to set things right...but imagine the huge odds of no-one ever coming back if WWII did not occur!

In fact, it would be great to see a theatrical movie about people caught in an infinity loop who are slowly growing aware of their situation and finally assaulting someone who would have gone back to prevent some disaster, thereby removing the infinity loop, but also their own need of assaulting the person, thereby causing a new loop. Obviously, the movie would not have a happy ending, unless there was a deus-ex-machina involved.

yea the world imploding was my idea LOL

and yes i hav heard of the infinity loop b4 but i dont reckon its possible to go back in time at all and even if humans did create a gate way to the past how com people from the future havn't com back here yet. coz i wud of thought they wud hav com back here to try prevent global warming or stop humans from scuing up the earth some way...

BTW thanx for the 8

The Chronicles of Lulham

"Can't help it!"

date: April 15, 2008

Sorry, but I cannot agree with you: I think this is a pretty darn cool submission and the lack of background doesn't bother me at all!

The main strength is that your man Lulham keeps smiling whatever happens, even while flying his aircraft into a mountain. And rather than ending up all gory, he simply ejects way too late. This kind of humour is definitely awesome IMHO.

The last part turns gory again, which is actually quite a pity. I think most gore on NG replaces well-thought out plots. If you're making another episode, I would recommend using a silly plot or situation as a basis and regarding the addition of any gore as optional ;-)

I think you did a great job!

Part one of this compilation is definitely revamped into a smooth, clear section. I have not checked the combinations yet, but I think this is a more enjoyable experience than the printed guides available!

Not a very helpful review, I'm sure, but I wanted to let you know you're rework paid off, in my humble opinion.

Well done!
